Apple Briefly Crosses $5 Trillion Market Value, Becomes Second Company to Reach Milestone
Apple briefly surpassed a $5 trillion market capitalization during Tuesday's trading session, becoming only the second publicly traded company to reach the historic valuation after Nvidia.
The iPhone maker's shares climbed as high as $342.89, lifting its market value to approximately $5.036 trillion. Although the stock later eased to $339.33, leaving the company's valuation at around $4.98 trillion, Apple remained one of the world's most valuable listed companies.
Apple Reclaims Top Spot
Earlier this month, Apple overtook Nvidia to become the world's most valuable publicly traded company. Nvidia had held the top position since June 2025 and was the first company to exceed a $5 trillion market capitalization.
By Tuesday's close, Nvidia's shares were trading around $197.63, giving the AI chipmaker a market value of roughly $4.78 trillion.
Investors Reward Apple's Strategy
Unlike several major technology rivals, Apple has largely avoided spending tens of billions of dollars on building massive AI data-center infrastructure.
Instead, the company has integrated Google's artificial intelligence technology into new features, including an upgraded Siri, allowing it to expand AI capabilities while keeping capital spending under control.
Analysts say this disciplined approach has helped improve investor confidence as other Big Tech companies continue to increase AI-related expenditures.
Stock Outperforms Big Tech Rivals
Apple's shares have gained approximately 25% so far this year, outperforming several members of the Magnificent Seven, including Nvidia, Meta, Alphabet, and Microsoft.
Strong demand for Apple products, combined with its measured AI investment strategy, has supported the company's impressive market performance despite increasing competition across the technology sector.
