New Delhi: “India has entered a decisive phase of its global influence,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi told NDA MPs, adding that the “world is tilting towards India” in view of the historic India-US tariff agreement and fast-tracking of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the European Union.
The Prime Minister’s comments came during a closed-door meeting with NDA parliamentary members, where he asserted that the world is witnessing a shift in global trade patterns, with India at the forefront of this shift.
India is No Longer a Rule-Taker, But a Deal-Maker
According to sources who attended the meeting, the Prime Minister asserted that India has transitioned from being a rule-taker to a deal-maker in global trade.
The historic India-US tariff agreement, which saw a reduction in tariffs and enhanced market access for Indian exports, was cited as a major milestone in this shift, which is a result of increased trust in India’s economic stability and credibility.
The sectors that are expected to benefit the most from the agreement include the pharmaceutical, automobile, manufacturing, electronics, and IT sectors, which have already shown signs of increased optimism due to the agreement.
EU FTA Push: India Seeks Larger Global Role
Modi also mentioned the fast pace of India-EU Free Trade Agreement talks, describing it as a strategic step that may reshape India’s trade landscape with one of the biggest economic blocs in the world.
An EU FTA may open the door to:
Increased market access for Indian products and services
Greater engagement in the global supply chain
New opportunities in clean energy, digital trade, and advanced manufacturing
“This is not just about trade agreements – it’s about India’s role in the world,” Modi told MPs, according to reports.
Why the World Is Turning to India
The Prime Minister explained that world leaders are increasingly looking at India as a safe, scalable, and long-term partner, particularly as the world looks for alternatives in the face of geopolitical uncertainty and supply chain challenges.
India’s Moment on the Global Stage
In today’s shifting global trade patterns, India is no longer waiting for opportunities to arise but is making them happen.
The message from the Prime Minister was clear:
👉 The world is not only watching India’s rise but is also aligning with it.
